IATF 16949 was released in October 2016 to replace ISO/TS 16949 standard with 2 years to upgrade. After September 2018 all the organization have to update their standard to IATF 16949. This certification is fully aligned with ISO 9001:2015 therefore to achieve IATF 16949, an organization has to be certified with ISO 9001:2015.

Organizations need to meet some of core requirements related to automotive industry,

• Advanced product quality process (APQP)

• Measurement system analysis (MSA)

• Trace ability of parts and assemblies

• Statistical monitor and control of processes (SPC)

• Production part approval process (PPAP)
